Sometimes, no matter how much experience you have, accidents happen. Changing weather or tidal conditions, distractions, poorly maintained launch or mooring facilities and other boaters can all contribute to the damage of an otherwise sound boat.

The marine environment can also be harsh and unforgiving and prolonged exposure to it can cause fatigue and wear in even the most well-constructed boats, motors and trailers. Insufficient or infrequent servicing exacerbates the potential for components to wear out or fail and issues often occur at the most inopportune times.

Marine Creations will endeavour to make the process of repairing your boat as seamless and transparent as possible. If the work is to be completed as part of an insurance claim, then we will assist you in the process and liaise with your insurer to minimise your stress and inconvenience.

*Prior to commencement of any repairs, a detailed inspection will be made of the vessel to ascertain the extent of the damage and to determine the viability of potential repairs at which time a detailed scope of works and itemised estimate will be generated. Insurance Repairs

Marine Creations is an authorised ClubMarine agent and we also have a close working relationship with dozens of other marine insurers including RACV and Nautilus.

We appreciate that the period following an accident is a stressful time and our goal is to get you back on the water again with the least amount of stress and inconvenience.

Damaged Drive Systems

Impact damage commonly occurs when the boat hits a submerged object such as a log or rock and can cause a multitude of issues.

When assessing impact damage, we carry out far more than just a visual inspection of the obvious components as quite often internal and/or associated component components could also be affected.

We strip down the lower leg, inspect the entire drive system, prop shafts, seals, bearings, cooling system, mounting bracket, trim assembly, steering system and transom for evidence of existing or imminent issues.

Aluminium to Fibreglass Hull Repairs

It's not unusual for minor stress cracks to appear in the transoms of even new fibreglass hulls. These are generally only cosmetic in nature and on older boats can be caused by the greater torque of modern outboards which often far-exceed what was available in the market even a decade ago.

Fibreglass Hull Repairs

Regardless of whether the hull was damaged in an accident, or merely requires some extensive TLC after decades of faithful service, we can assist.

Skeg and Prop Damage

That tapered fin below your outboard or sterndrive's gearbox cops quite a hiding as its generally the first thing to imapact a submerged object, the beach or - heaven forbid - the boat ramp. Partial or complete amputation of the skeg is rather common and is relatively easy to repair. Prior to conducting a skeg repair, we'll also inspect the prop as well as the rest of your lower drive system as a damaged prop or skeg often indicates further, less visible, damage.

Gearbox Repairs and Replacement

Regardless of whether your boat is powered by an outboard or sterndrive, the lower unit of your motor is often subjected to sustained abuse...and sometimes fatigue or impact renders it inoperable. In those circumstances, we will evaluate the extent of the damage and determine whether repair is viable or perhaps replacement is warranted.

If the damage is covered under your insurance policy, we can liaise with your insurer and complete all works as required.

Boat and General Trailer Repairs

Boat trailers commonly suffer from abuse and neglect both at the hands of the environment and their owners. They're driven countless kilometres, often offer unmade or rutted roads. They're drowned in saltwater, rammed by boats that are driven on and off and barely get a rinse off at the end of the day. It's no wonder boat trailers and/or their components suffer from fatigue and failure.

Marine Creations can assist when your trailer finally says, "no more." After all, its the only thing sitting between your boat and the highway!

Diagnosing Electrical Issues and Rewiring Solutions

It's a sad indictment on many local and imported boat manufacturers that their wiring often resembles a mad bird's nest.

Messy wiring not only makes diagnosing and fixing electric issues harder, but modern electronics can be quite sensitive to current supply and wires - sometimes of the wrong guage - running near accessory modules or antenna cables can lead to a host of gremlins.

DIY'ers and backyard installers can make a bad situation worse by overloading switch panels and power distribution systems.

Potential issues are not merely inconvenient but can lead to motor damage or fires.

Mechanical Repairs & Rebuilds

Marine Creations can conduct minor and major repairs on your outboard or sterndrve in the event of mechanical failure.

In the event of catastrophic failure we can conduct a comprehensive report to ascertain if rebuilding the engine is feasible. If not, we can assist in the procurement and installation of a new or quality used outboard.
